Horses yes, but pool for people is a no

07 Aug 2017 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) I WELCOME last Thursdays announcement by the Federal Government to join the Andrews Labor Government in funding the Wangaratta Turf Club equine education facility. This is fantastic news for the North East and the Victorian racing industry. I wrote to Federal Minister Fiona Nash in April asking her to join the Andrews Labor Government who had already provided nearly $2 million in funding in February 2016 and ensure that the Federal Government funds this vital project that will create many local jobs. Congratulations to the Wangaratta Turf Club and its CEO Paul Hoysted its great to see their hard work rewarded. The club can now get on with the development and build its reputation as a first class equine education facility. It is disappointing however that the Federal Liberal National Government have again failed to announce funding for the Wangaratta Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre. Early last year the Andrews Labor Government announced $1.5million for stage two of the pool upgrade but the community are no clearer as to when the Federal Government will pay their share.
