MEMBER for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes has announced the Victorian government has allocated more than $200,000 to 20 Landcare groups in northern Victoria as part of the $2 million 2015-16 Victorian Landcare Grants. Ms Symes said the grants were recognition of the crucial role Landcare volunteers play in protecting and enhancing Victorias environmental health. The projects being funded this year will deliver important environmental outcomes for these country communities in my electorate and I look forward to seeing the results of the volunteers hard work in the future, Ms Symes said. These grants are to ensure Landcare groups across Victoria have the support they deserve. Ms Symes said $40,000 had been allocated to the South West Goulburn Landcare Network for three projects: FarmBlitz, Kurkurac Creek Weed Management and Revegetation Corridor and Engaging Children Learning through Nature program. The Upper Goulburn Landcare Network has been allocated $38,000 for its environmental events and nature walks project. Kids Teaching Kids community education grant, priority weeds rebate and pest animal control and continuation of three community blackberry taskforce project officers. The Goulburn Murray Landcare Network has been allocated $30,000 for its Environmental Education in the Agriculture Floodplains, 20 year celebration of Landcare in the Agriculture Floodplains and Biodiversity Environment Aquatic Discovery programs. Euroa Arboretum received $15,000 for its school environmental education program, Euroa Environment Group $5000 for 2015 Watershed Year: Euroa Environmental Seminar Series, Granite Creek Projects receives $10,000 for its ongoing pest plant and animal control project and Warrenbayne Boho Land Protection Group receives $10,000 for its Brush Em Off Blackberries, Wild Tobacco and Rabbits project The Hughes Creek Catchment Collaborative will receive $20,000 for their Post Fire Pest Animal Control project, Longwood East Landcare Group receive $1000 for controlling weeds after the Longwood East fire and Strathbogie Ranges Conservation Management Network will receive $13,000 for its Engaging Absentee and New Landholders project. UptoUs Landcare Alliance will receive $16,000 for an integrated approach to weed control on private and public land program as well as the Meet, Talk Act 3 program, Lower Goulburn Conservation Management Network receive $7000 for its Outdoor Classrooms project and Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.
