$60,000 to aid Nagambie Mens Shed build a home, Euroa Gazette, Euroa VIC
NAGAMBIE Mens Shed has received a $60,000 State Government grant to help build it a new home. Jaclyn Symes (MLA, Euroa) confirmed the funding last week, as part of $750,000 being spread to 15 mens sheds across the state. The land where the new facility will be constructed was donated by Strathbogie Shire. Ms Symes said two sheds will be built; one for workshop space and a second for a meeting room, kitchenette and toilet. This project has been undertaken with extensive community consultation, and has a plan to grow the involvement of local residents by building strong partnerships with other community organisations like council, she said. Mens sheds enhance the health and wellbeing of communities like ours by reducing social isolation and promoting social inclusion. They are a safe and friendly space where locals can learn new skills, catch up with mates and give back to the community. Nagambies Mens Shed has been operating for sometime in a temporary shed at the back of the Scout hall in Goulburn Street. It is open each Wednesday from 10am to 3pm.
