LANDCARE groups in the Kiewa and Ovens Valley have shared in almost $50,000 of State Government grants. The Kiewa Catchment Landcare group will take almost $40,000 of the grants, while the Upper Ovens Valley that takes in Bright and Harrietville have been granted more than $6000. Bright Community Garden, Murmungees Burgoigee Creek Landcare Group, Myrtleford and Whorouly were all granted $500 for ongoing maintenance, Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the grants recognise the critical role played by Landcare groups and volunteers in achieving on-going environmental gains. The projects being funded this year will deliver important environmental outcomes for Northern Victoria and I look forward to seeing the results of the volunteers hard work in the future, she said. I understand the valuable contribution Landcare groups play to our local communities and the State Government is currently reviewing what else we can do to ensure we support volunteers and groups across country Victoria.
