05 Jul 2017 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) Broadfords first ambulance station has moved a step closer, with Mitchell Shire Council agreeing to sell a parcel of land to the Victorian Government. The land, at 45-51 Hamilton St, will soon house the new Ambulance Victoria base. The proposed ambulance station would be co-located with a new fire station, on land currently being prepared for sale to the CFA. In December 2016, Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced funding for the Broadford ambulance station, which is set to be staffed by seven full-time equivalent paramedics. Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said the establishment of an ambulance station in Broadford was important, particularly given the growth coming to the area. An ambulance presence in Broadford is long overdue and will give residents great peace of mind knowing that such highly-skilled paramedics will soon be based in the town, Cr Sanderson said. The Hamilton St site is a central location with easy access to main roads to enable faster access to emergency care. Council looks forward to watching the progression of this important emergency services hub and we would like to thank the state government for making this commitment to bring this vital emergency service to Broadford.
