Arts coming to Yea and Ruffy
06 Dec 2017 Yea Chronicle, Yea VIC (General News)
YEA and Ruffy are among Victorian towns to receive part of $26,000 in grants to bring arts programs to town through the state governments Small Regional Presenters program. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes congratulated RuffArtZ, Yea Arts Inc., Wangaratta Arts Council Inc., and Indigo Shire Council on their grants success on Thursday. The Small Regional Presenters program is open to regionally-based arts presenters including not-for-profit arts groups and societies, venues and local councils. Unlike a traditional touring model which provides support for artists to take their work on the road, the Small Regional Presenters program supports venues or presenters working on the ground to attract shows to their area. Northern Victoria has a fantastic arts community and I congratulate each of these groups for their success, Ms Symes said. Small Regional Presenters program is part of our commitment to ensuring that country Victorians have the same access to high quality creative experience as our metro counterparts. Yea Arts Inc. received more than $12,000 for the presentation of shows and workshops through the Bringing the Arts to Yea program. The program will include Le Petit Mort, a comedy cabaret that reimagines a 1940s radio drama and will be presented at Beaufort Manor, Pacific Belles, a musical celebration of songs from the 1940s, the cabaret performance Red Dress & the Sugar Man, Dr Crask & His Swingin Elixir Band with an accompanying music workshop, and Parvyn Singhs A Night of Bollywood which will include an Indian dance workshop for local school students. RuffArtZ from Ruffy received $8000 for the presentation of the 2018 Cafe Culture Series at Ruffy Hall. Their program will also include Pacific Belles, Red Dress & the Sugar Man, Dr Crask and His Swingin Elixir Band, and Parvyn Singhs A Night of Bollywood. Four accompanying workshops will also be presented as part of the program. Licensed by Copyright Agency. You may only copy or communicate this work with a licence.
