17 Feb 2016 Cobram Courier, Cobram VIC (General News) The Victorian Government is helping local young people put on events and celebrate National Youth Week, with nearly $50 000 in funding going to country Victorian groups for the event. The Moira Shire will be taking part in the week, with an event to be organised within the area. State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said 25 organisations in the region would share in nearly $50 000 in funding. Projects funded by Labor will ensure there are plenty of youth activities for everyone to get involved in including art, personal safety, mental health, education and training, entertainment, health and fitness, indigenous and multicultural affairs projects and activities, Ms Symes said. We have some very exciting events happening right across country Victoria that our youth can participate in. Young people have a valuable contribution to make in country Victoria and the Labor Government is helping them develop their skills and make their voices heard. I congratulate the organisers of these events on their funding approval and encourage all local young people to get involved in National Youth Week. The government consulted with thousands of young Victorians to help develop its new youth policy, which will be announced this year. Ms Symes said National Youth Week, which is between April 8 and 17, is an annual week-long celebration of young people aged from 12 to 25, allowing them to express their creativity and have their say about issues important to them. It is a partnership between the Victorian and federal governments.
