13 Jun 2017 Mildura Midweek, Mildura VIC (General News) CRITICAL maintenance on the McEdwards Street rail bridge improving safety for locals and motorists in Merbein is complete. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said she welcomed the completion of works, which included replacing the existing timber deck with a new concrete one. The works were managed by VicTrack as part of the State Governments $1.5 million annual Bridge Rehabilitation Program, which is also repairing and upgrading rail bridges at Armstrong Street in Ballarat and Bridge Street in Korumburra. These works have made the McEdwards Street bridge stronger and safer for the Merbein community, Ms Symes said.
