THE $475,000 safety upgrade to the Boorhaman Road level crossing at Bowser, opposite the North Wangaratta Football Netball Club, has been completed. Jaclyn Symes (MLA, Northern Victoria) said boom gates have been installed at the crossing on the busy rail line, which carries V/Line and XPT passenger services, as well as ARTC freight trains. The crossing previously only had warning signs and flashing lights. The crossing was identified for the upgrade because of the number of near misses at the crossing in recent years, and advice from the rail operators, Ms Symes said.
