Crossing upgrade at Broadford
05 Jul 2017 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News)
New gates and emergency exits have been installed at Broadford Railway Station to make the pedestrian crossing safer. The $500 000 upgrade, which has installed automatic and emergency exit gates with electromagnetic latches at the station crossings, will prevent people starting to cross the tracks when a train is coming, and ensure those on the tracks when the warning bells start ringing have a safe way out. Works at the station were carried out between May and June 2017, with the Victorian Government fast-tracking all country crossing upgrades to be completed by late 2018. This upgrade will make a big difference for local families and kids particularly those who use the crossing to get to Paisley Park Learning Centre and Broadford Secondary School, Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said. Its one of nearly 80 crossings Labor is upgrading across country Victoria to improve safety for drivers, passengers and local communities. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
