Australias first ultra-rapid vehicle charging site is coming to Euroa
AUSTRALIAS first fastest electric vehicle charging stations are being developed in regional Victoria, with sites in Euroa and Barnawartha North.
Using local expertise and businesses, Minister for Energy Lily DAmbrosio announced last week that Australian business Chargefox will receive $1 million to develop Australias first ultra-rapid vehicle charging sites.
The home for the charging site in Euroa will be at the Shell Service Centre on Tarcombe Street and owner Michael Roth from Mircorp Property Group has said he looks forward to having the site.
Its looking to the future to provide for hybrid and all electric charge motor vehicles, Mr Roth said.
This facility is going to provide a great service for the people of Euroa who are getting into hybrid and electrical motor cars.
From an environment point of view I think we are being responsible citizens.
Chargefox has made an electric vehicle charge management software platform designed and built in Australia and will create two charging sites with multiple charging stations at each.
The company will match the Labor Governments funding to build the stations, which are expected to be operational by the end of October.
The charging stations will dramatically reduce charging time for drivers, with up to 400km of range delivered in 15 minutes, the fastest of any charger currently deployed in Australia.
The locations of the charging sites will make it easier for motorists travelling interstate, providing a boom for local economies, with the aim of boosting tourism in regional Victoria.
The Euroa Environment Group has said they are in full support of the forward thinking initiative.
The Andrews Government are planning for the future and we applaud them for their foresight, they said.
All development must be based on making our future safe and sustainable and renewable energy is leading the way.
Like mobile phones the transition to Electric Vehicles will happen quickly and we must act quickly if we hope to lower emissions.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily DAmbrosio said electric vehicles are the future, and were ensuring Victoria is at the forefront of this transition.
With our Solar Homes initiative and plans for electric vehicles, Victoria is leading the nation in new energy technology, Minister DAmbrosio said.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes also said were bringing the worlds best technology to regional Victoria and supporting local businesses along the way.
These ultra-rapid charging sites will bring more tourists to our towns and help drive down emissions, Ms Symes said.
