Fodder for the food trucks
31 Oct 2017 North Central Review (Kilmore), Melbourne (General News)
THE Mitchell multicultural food truck festival will be able to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions with the community as a result of funding from the Multicultural Festivals and Events program. Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, announced the funding for the 2018 Hadfield Park, Wallan event that will feature cultural performances, music, dance, craft and food stalls. Mitchell Shire Council, in partnership with community groups through the Mitchell Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee along with the Kilmore Hospital, Victoria Police and FamilyCare, will stage the second food truck festival at Hadfield Park from 5 to 9pm, on March 9, 2018. The festival is held during Cultural Diversity week and includes cultural performances, music, dance, craft and food stalls. It is expected to attract 2000 visitors. The food truck festival gives us the opportunity to come together and celebrate as one community, Ms Symes said. The grants will ensure that multiculturalism in the area continues to thrive, and I encourage everyone to get involved at a festival near them. Grants are approved for events that foster cross cultural awareness, understanding and respect, and ensure that Victorias multicultural communities can celebrate, preserve and share traditions in meaningful ways. The grants are also provided to build the capacity of smaller or newer community groups to engage with both locals and fellow organisations. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
