Funding successful for Erril Street project, Mansfield Courier, Mansfield VIC
A STATE Labor Government grant of $232,000 will help increase community safety and confidence in Mansfield, Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) announced last Friday. Ms Symes said the $232,030 funding for Mansfield Shire Councils Erril Street Rejuvenation and Activation Project was successful under the latest round of the governments Public Safety Infrastructure Fund grants program. This funding will deliver significant improvements within the Erril Street precinct including improved lighting, footpaths, landscaping, street furniture, signage and recreational infrastructure to improve surveillance and connectivity to deter offending and improve safety, Ms Symes said. True crime prevention begins when communities are involved and the State Government is providing the opportunity for council to partner with its local community to target crime in Mansfield. The government is committed to delivering effective and evidence based crime prevention strategies to help reduce violence and crime across all areas of the community, Ms Symes said. Mansfield Shire Council is one of 14 local councils to receive funding from the $2.5 million State Government Public Safety Infrastructure Fund. Funded projects range from CCTV installations, lighting upgrades and neighbourhood renewal projects.
