Grant aids first home buyers

THE Homes for Victorians package has helped hundreds of people across regional Victoria purchase their first home between July and December last year. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) said the First Home Owner Grant which was doubled in regional Victoria from $10,000 to $20,000 and is for newly constructed homes up to $750,000 remains applicable to contracts signed up until June 30, 2020. Ms Symes said those whove taken up the grants include 82 in the City of Wodonga, 41 in Greater Shepparton, 37 in Mildura Rural City, 35 in the Mitchell Shire, 16 in Moira Shire, nine in the Rural City of Wangaratta, Benalla Rural City and Strathbogie Shire, eight in Swan Hill Rural City, seven in Murrindindi Shire and four each in Alpine, Indigo and Mansfield shires. The Homes for Victorians package has also helped more than 9700 first home buyers pay no stamp duty to buy new and existing homes up to $600,000. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
