A $44,500 State Government grant to the Rural City of Wangaratta will help vulnerable women and families in the community. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) said the grant supported fresh, creative thinking about how maternal child health services can better support local vulnerable families at the early stages of a childs life. Ms Symes said the Waqngaratta project will improve continuity of care for vulnerable women and families. It will do this by identifying vulnerable women and families in the antenatal period, engaging them and building trust prior to birth, and making early referrals to specialist services to address concerns in the antenatal period, she said. Ms Symes said the project will increase collaboration between maternal child, health and family support services to enable improved continuity of care.
