Grant to provide more shade at local high school

10 Nov 2017 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) THE Wangaratta High School will receive a $27,500 State Government grant for extra shade to prevent deadly skin cancers. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) announced the funding yesterday as part of $250,000 going to regional schools. More shaded areas at our local schools are a simple way to protect our kids from the harmful effects of UV radiation and prevent skin cancer, Ms Symes said. Skin cancer is a major health issue for Australians, yet its mostly preventable. Schools play a critical role in helping kids learn how to be sun smart from an early age.
