TACKLING problem gambling is at the heart of a major grant to the Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation.
The Victorian government is giving $50,000 to the corporation for the development of its Heart of Community Health event kits.
The aim of the Koori Events Kits will be used for running community events that increase knowledge of risks of gambling harm and raise awareness of Gambers Help services.
This grant will go a long way to ensuring we have strong initiatives to combat gambling harm in across the North East, member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said.
We are working with local organisations to tackle gambling harm and giving country communities the support they need.
This is part of our ongoing efforts to prevent gambling harm, which includes freezing the total number of pokies across the state and imposing strict withdrawal limits at venues.
The grant is part of almost $247,000 allocated for programs in regional Victoria.
