Landcarers get a funding boost, Corryong Courier, Corryong VIC
Local landcare groups will receive more than $75,000 for three major projects, the Labor Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, has announced. The government has allocated more than $220,000 to Landcare groups in country Victoria as the part of its $2 million 2015-16 grants program. The projects being funded this year will deliver important environmental outcomes for Northern Victoria and I look forward to seeing the results of the volunteers hard work in the future, Ms Symes said. The Koetong Landcare Group has received $19,590 for works in the Koetong Creek catchment area. Upper Murray Landcare Network received $39,706 to achieve landscape change through a partnership approach in the Upper Murray. The North East Blackberry Action Group will use its grant of $ 19,090 to work collaboratively to achieve sustainable land management in the Walwa catchment. The grants are recognition from the government of the crucial role Landcare volunteers play in protecting and enhancing country Victorias environmental health, Ms Symes said.
