State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes has been working with Benalla Rural City Council and local sporting clubs to help develop facilities at the Arundel St Oval. Ms Symes said she welcomed any support for this important project, but felt Ms Ryans announcement might be premature. The clubs that use this oval are diverse, I think its junior footy and womens football, of which I am a jumper sponsor, Ms Symes said. But its also cricket, and I believe the baseball club are looking at potentially being located there, so theres a lot of clubs involved. Sports and Rec Victoria are involved, Ive looped them in and asked if they want to work with these clubs and the council about the plans and what the facility should look like. So its currently in the planning phase. We dont actually know what its going to look like or what its going to cost. So Ill have more to say once all the proper work is done, which hopefully wont be too far off.
