Making oval more friendly

Improvements to Euroas Friendlies Oval will soon start after $100,000 from the Victorian Government was received in January.
Upgrades to the oval, which is also a major component of the towns northern entrance, include a new surface, widening and a slight lengthening of the oval, a new watering system, a new white picket fence and the installation of three turf wickets.
Friendlies Oval committee member and one of the projects initiators Rob Asquith said the community had been generous in supporting the project.
It is exciting in several ways; not only is it going to be a magnificent sporting ground for our community, but it will be a beautification point from the northern side of Euroa with the lovely white picket fencing, he said.
Strathbogie Shire Deputy Mayor and steering committee member John Mason said the end product would be a high-calibre facility which could be used by the whole community on one of the main entrances to the town.
The $210 000 upgrade will be funded through the grant, with more than $50 000 raised by the Friendlies Oval Committee and $50 000 from council.
