Milawa Cheese likes taste of production boost

25 Apr 2018 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) MILAWA Cheese Company has received a State Government boost which is expected to lead to more jobs. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) visited the business yesterday to announce the company had received a Boost Your Business advanced manufacturing voucher. The voucher will be used to improve business systems and operations to increase the scale of cheese production at the Milawa business, and is potentially worth $50,000. The business will also be able to increase its ranks of skilled cheesemakers and operational team members. Were supporting the Milawa Cheese Company so they can enhance their operations to increase sales, employ more people, and add to the local economy, Ms Symes said. Food manufacturing is a key area of growth, and we want to encourage our food manufacturers like Milawa Cheese to grow, innovate and enter new markets. The advanced manufacturing stream provides eligible businesses with vouchers up to $50,000 to help them develop new products, improve capability, and enter new export markets. Boost Your Business vouchers are also available in Asia Gateway, food innovation, and social enterprise capability streams. They provide funding for businesses to engage registered service providers to undertake activities such as developing new products, improving business processes and systems, identifying new export markets, undertaking research and development, and gaining certification. The first round of the program has allocated $3 million to support 108 businesses across Victoria. A further series of vouchers will open from Monday, June 4 and close on July 13.
