More safety upgrades

THE State Government is upgrading sections of Mansfield-Woods Point Road to provide a smoother and safer journey for road users. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) announced $550,000 for improvement and maintenance works, including sealing a 1.2 kilometre stretch of the road north of Woods Point. Repairs and final seals will also be completed on the road near Kevington after sealing works were undertaken last year. Deteriorated sections of the road between Mansfield and Jamieson are also being repaired. As well as improving safety, these works will benefit local residents as the sealed road will significantly reduce the amount of dust generated by vehicles, particularly during the drier months. Since coming to office weve doubled spending on roads, Ms Symes said. These important works will mean that this road is much more accessible in the winter months and during periods of heavy rainfall. This road is popular with tourists and a key trucking route, supporting mining in the region. Works are anticipated to commence in March and be completed mid-2018. Drivers are advised that traffic management will be in place and there may be minor delays and reduced speed limits while the works are being undertaken.Licensed by Copyright Agency.
