New ratios to support kids

03 Feb 2016 Cobram Courier, Cobram VIC (General News) State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes has welcomed local kindergarten students into the new kinder year, with better educator-to-child ratios introduced meaning more individual attention and care for children in the year before school. Ms Symes said introduced on January 1 this year, the new ratios will mean one educator for every 11 children down from one per 15. Ms Symes recently announced nearly $700 000 in minor infrastructure grants for more than 100 northern Victoria kindergartens. My four-year-old daughter is so excited about her first week of kindergarten, I wish all kinder kids and their families a happy and successful year, she said. In 2016 we are delivering better services and strengthening the quality of our early years services so country Victorian kids get a great start in life.
