New walk bridge to improve safety

02 Oct 2018 Whittlesea Review, Whittlesea (General News) by Joshua Wells REGULAR users of the Kilmore Creek pedestrian bridge are hoping to see upgrades to the walkway happen as fast as possible as pedestrians risk their lives to cross. Kilmore resident Lee Gibson welcomed the news the state government would provide the Mitchell Shire Council with $745,000 to construct a dedicated pedestrian and cycling bridge over Kilmore Creek. But Ms Gibson also said the daily pilgrimage of so many was still risky business. Crossing the bridge is not fun and is quite dangerous, safety is the biggest issue, she said. I walk it every single day and I have noticed some trucks lose their balance, so drivers are distracted as well. It is very dangerous for the walkers and people in general who cross I walk this bridge every day so I am very happy to hear (about the upgrades] It is a factor that you put your life in danger Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the bridge had been raised on multiple occasions. The money is through the Growing Suburbs Fund and will provide a safely net for this bridge, she said. It couldnt be better timed to get this pedestrian bridge It really isnt safe quite frankly. The government has invested more than 14.3 million from the Growing Suburbs Fund in the Mitchell Shire and will continue to deliver the projects and infrastructure our communities need. The works once completed will provide safer access for residents.
