PLANNING for stage four building works of Wallan Secondary College are expected to begin this year for construction in 2016. Premier Daniel Andrews announced the $5 million in works towards completion of the final buildings, which includes new classrooms for senior students and amenities, during a recent visit to the school. The news was met with excitement from WSC staff and students who have been waiting for this moment since the school first opened in 2006. The development is about finishing what was started. This announcement is great news, principal Sally Lasslett said. The proposed development includes a year 11 and 12 learning wing which will incorporate classrooms for the schools VCE, VCAL and VET (trade) programs. It will also replace the portables that now act as a year 12 common room, a staff office, locker bay area and classrooms when necessary. Were proud to be able to fund this in our first budget, Mr Andrews said. Kids in out fast-growing outer suburbs cant get a complete education in an incomplete school. The school is Melbournes growth corridor and is increasing in students each year. Mr Andrews was joined at the school joined by Minister for Education James Merlino, Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green and Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes.
