20 Sep 2016 North Central Review (Kilmore), Melbourne (General News) A SEYMOUR Line night coach is scheduled to hit the road next month, giving local residents a safer and more affordable way to get home on the weekend. From Friday, October 14, Seymour will join Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong and Traralgon as regional communities benefitting from the Andrews Governments Night Network trial of all night public transport on weekends. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the inclusion of a Seymour night coach will provide extra incentive for local residents to spend more time in the city after dark. The Seymour night coach will give locals a safer and more affordable way to get home on the weekend so they can stay out longer and enjoy the very best of Melbournes nightlife, Ms Symes said. People in Seymour, Wallan, Broadford and Wandong will join thousands of Victorians and visitors already benefitting from the trial of all night public transport on weekends. The trial of the Seymour night coach will depart from Melbournes Southern Cross Coach Terminal at 2am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, dropping off passengers at stations along the line, as well as coach stops in Wallan and Kilmore. Arriving at Seymour just before 4am, the night coach finishes its route 15 minutes later with a final drop off at Bridges Barracks, Puckapunyal for authorised personnel. The Labor Government launched the Night Network in January this year as a one year trial of all night transport on weekends across trains, trams and buses in Melbourne, and 2am night coaches to major regional destinations. As a further boost to Melbournes night time economy and major events, a six month continuation of Night Network services was recently announced over the summer and autumn of 2017. Melbourne is one of only two cities worldwide to offer all night public transport across trains, trams and buses.
