Nominate a young achiever for award

11 Oct 2017 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) Nominations for the 2017-18 Victorian Young Achiever Awards have opened. Nominations are being sought across a number of categories, including arts and fashion, small business, community, social impact, health and leadership. There is also an inspirational TAFE student award this year. Nominations for the prestigious award close on December 18. State Member for Euroa Steph Ryan, who is also Shadow Minister for Young Victorians, said the awards were the perfect opportunity to recognise young people and their contribution to the community, and the aim of the awards was to encourage, reward and promote the positive achievements of young Victorians. The Euroa electorate and Victoria more broadly is fortunate to have so many hard-working, talented and community-minded young people, Ms Ryan said. I am fortunate to meet many as I travel around the state and am so often blown away by what they are achieving. These awards are an opportunity to say thank you and to recognise their efforts. Young people up to the age of 29 are eligible to be nominated. State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes is also encouraging residents to nominate a local young person for the awards. We all know many young children and teenagers who contribute to our communities and these awards are a fantastic way to celebrate commitment and achievements to the local community, Ms Symes said. The awards will culminate with a gala presentation dinner on May 18 next year. Category winners will each receive $1000 into an account in their name from Bank of Melbourne; a $1000 Bartercard account and a trophy. One of the 10 category winners will be chosen as the Victorian Young Achiever of the Year and will receive a $2000 flight voucher from Jetstar and a trophy.
