From small ideas to big ideas, park ideas, art ideas, restoration ideas and innovation ideas, there are a range of project ideas in and around Benalla which need your support, with voting now open for Pick My Project. Residents aged 16 and older are encouraged to have their say by voting for their favourite project ideas in their community. Some of the local initiatives that can be voted on include: The Nangarna Play Space an all-abilities nature-based playground influenced by the environment and indigenous history based at Winton Wetlands; Outfoxing Our Foxes safe-guarding the wonders of Winton Wetlands: Reducing fox abundance using innovative technology; The Violet Town Wetlands Enhancement program; The Southern Aurora Community Helping Hands Sculpture; and The Community Arts and Garden Space in Violet Town. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said she wanted to congratulate the many community groups who put forward a Pick My Project proposal. I am overwhelmed by some of the fantastic ideas, Ms Symes said. Some projects have been around for some time but have never been eligible for a grant, whereas there are heaps of brand new ideas get online and check them out. This $30 million initiative by the Andrews Labor Government gives residents the power to vote for a community project that they want to see developed in their towns. Voters can visit pickmyproject.vic.gov.au to register and select their local community by searching for their street address or town, or by dropping a pin on the map. Theyll be shown about 30 project ideas within 50 km of their location, with those closest to them shown first. Voters can shortlist up to six project ideas before voting for their favourite three. The Victorian Governments $30 million of funding has been divided between the six metropolitan and nine regional partnership areas. Project ideas with the most votes in each of the partnership areas will be invited to enter into a funding agreement for their project, with between $20 000 and $200 000 available from the Victorian Government.
