School funding boost

Winton Primary School is one of several schools across Victorias north east that will benefit from newly announced state government funding. State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes, announced a $180.8 million investment in the Victorian Budget 2018/19, which will go towards building and upgrading 60 regional schools across the Northern Victoria electorate. This includes $22.9 million that will be spent on building, upgrading and planning for schools including: $90 000 for Winton Primary School to upgrade and modernise facilities; $2.2 million for the Wangaratta District Specialist School and Appin Park Primary School Regeneration to upgrade and modernise facilities; and $950 000 for Euroa Secondary College to upgrade and modernise facilities. This comes on top of recently announced funding of $6.88 million for the rebuild and redeveloping of schools in the region, including Benalla P-12 College, which is currently undergoing major building work. Whether its in Don Valley or Wodonga, Labor is upgrading and rebuilding schools right across the Northern Victoria electorate to make sure they have the best classrooms and the best facilities for our hard-working students and teachers, Ms Symes said. No matter where you live in Northern Victoria, students deserve to have a great school Labor is getting on with rebuilding schools across our state to give hard-working families the facilities they need. This boost to regional school funding will upgrade classrooms and school facilities across Victoria, helping teachers and giving more students the support they need to get the 21st century education they deserve. The Victorian School Building Authority will now start working with schools to determine the scope of their upgrades and how they can best be delivered.
