STAGE three of the James Scott Memorial Skate Park was officially opened late last week and the locals were out in force to enjoy the facilities and show off their skills. The opening, held late last week was just in time to allow the running of the Loddon Mallee Hume Skate Series on the weekend and photographer Adam Wilson was on-hand to attend the event. The opening was conducted by State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes and Wodonga Mayor Rodney Wangman, who jointly cut the ribbon. The formalities were followed by a demonstration of just what can be done with facilities of this calibre. Cr Wangman said the opening marked the completion of the third and final stage of the skate park extension. The skate park is popular with Wodongas skate, scoot and BMX community, he said. The extension work has broadened its appeal, with the space now also being a multi-functional space for recreational pursuits. The skate park extension incorporates a half-court basketball area that doubles as a stage and event area, spectator facilities, skate rails and ledges, and further improvements to the popular skate run. The James Scott Memorial Skate Park was built in 1995 and is located in Willow Park, Wodonga.
