03 Aug 2018 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) CHILTERN Athenaeum Museum has been awarded a State Government grant of $15,000 to fund the development of a digital archive. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) announced the funding this week, as part of the governments Anzac Centenary Community Grants Program which has funded initiatives across Victoria that will strengthen the legacy of those who served in World War One. The Chiltern Athenaeum Museums digital archive project will draw on the Chiltern Honour Roll and the museums extensive photographic archive to preserve the stories of Chilterns World War One service men and women. The Chiltern Athenaeum Museum has done a wonderful job of preserving the history and culture of our region and I am pleased the Victorian Government is able to help continue that work with this grant, Ms Symes said. It is important that we maintain the stories of the men and women who served in World War One and give those stories new life by passing them on to future generations.
