13 Jun 2017 Country News insert, Shepparton VIC (General News) Victorian Regional Development Minister Jaala Pulford has announced a $50 000 grant towards the development of a feasibility study to expand the Broadford State Motorcycle Complex, to attract visitors and boost the local economy. Mitchell Shire Council and Motorcycling Victoria will assess the potential expansion of the complex and the development of adjacent vacant land into an industrial park and training facility with accommodation. The broad-based study is expected to: Provide a vision and master plan for development of the two adjacent sites. Investigate and recommend the most suitable method for delivering utilities to the two sites. Undertake an economic assessment of the future value of the project to the area and the region. Motorcycling Victoria has relocated its head office to Broadford and is keen to develop the complex to meet the needs of its members and the broader motor sports fraternity. A number of new events have also committed to use the facility for the next three years. The Andrews Government is supporting the project through its $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, which aims to make regional Victoria an even better place to live, work and visit. Ms Pulford said the State Motorcycle Sports Complex already had a renowned reputation, hosting both charitable and competitive events. With this funding we look forward to working on its expansion, she said. State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said it was an exciting project that had the potential to create many employment and tourism opportunities for Broadford as well as providing significant improvements to make the State Motorcycle Sports Complex a state of-the-art facility for motorcycling enthusiasts.
