Talks, healthy as Mallee bulls

07 Dec 2016 Riverine Herald, Echuca VIC (General News) GANNAWARRA Shire residents and council staff met with some of the Victorian Governments top brass in Mildura last week. The meeting formed part of the Mallee Regional Partnership, which aims to engage with community, industry and government to prioritse what the region needs most. Gannawarra Shire chief executive Eric Braslis said the forum proved beneficial. Council staff alongside community members and business people were able to have their say on topics that are most pressing within the region, focusing on Gannawarra obviously for us, he said.s Health, education and transport were top of the list from our perspective, however a broad range of issues were raised and discussed at the forum. Mayor Brian Gibson met with several key attendees including Jaala Pulford, Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development Jaala Pulford, Treasurer Tim Pallas, and Members for Northern Victoria Steve Herbert and Jaclyn Symes. He said he raised issues relevant to Gannawarra such as access to health services and connectivity, including transport and digital services. Its not every day we have the chance to directly speak to such influential members, so it was vital that we made the most of our time in Mildura and really advocated for Gannawarra, Cr Gibson said. Following the assembly, a summary of the ideas and recommendations will be published online and residents are encouraged to have their say at www.engage.regions.vic.gov.au Caption Text: Talks: Gannawarra Shire chief executive Eric Braslis (pictured on opposite side of table, second from the right) at the Mallee Regional Partnerships Assembly in Mildura on December 1.
