RESIDENTS are invited to have their say on the future of public transport options across northern Victoria. The State Governments Regional Transport Advisory Group is in the process of developing a Regional Network Development Plan, with online and in-person workshops occurring to help shape the document Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes said the future planning of regional and country transport can only be a success with community input into the development of the plan, which will set short, medium and long-term priorities for regional public transport services. The plan will also consider infrastructure upgrades, network extension and rolling stock, including next generation high capacity regional trains to cater for peak demand, she said. People can provide feedback via a forum at ptv.vic.gov.au/getinvolved or attend an in-person workshop, scheduled for Swan Hill on Friday, August 21 from 11am to 1pm. People can also e-mail written submissions to [email protected] or posted to Public Transport Victoria, PO Box 4724, Melbourne 3001 (attention Regional Network Development Plan), by no later than September 11. All feedback as part of the state-wide consultation will be a critical part of the development of the plan, which will be finalised for consideration as part of the 2016-17 Budget.
