Northern Victoria is set to benefit from almost $230,000 in funding to upgrade their facilities and boost the race day experience as part of the Allan Labor Government’s ongoing investment in country racing.
Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines today announced more than $730,000 from the Regional Customer Facilities Program to improve racing infrastructure at 18 regional racing venues.
The funding has been awarded to:
- Alexandra Race club – $35,510 for the upgrade of the Alfresco Area to a larger structure with a new kitchen and secure building
- Echuca Racing Club – $16,413 for the purchase of 30 timber market umbrellas and construct storage stillage and $25,697 for the upgrade of bathrooms, furniture and the installation of an audio/TV system in the Winning Post Bar.
- Mansfield & District Racing Club – $30,762 for the purchase and installation of domes and shipping containers for hospitality facilities.
- Mildura Racing Club – $31,400 for the refurbishment and fit out of a 20ft container as a Customer Service Centre.
- Seymour Racing Club – $33,157 for the upgrade of the public areas with landscaping, new lawns, paths and replacement of timber picnic benches.

Thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing clubs will receive grants of up to $100,000 to deliver projects that upgrade function spaces, improve public amenities and purchase new equipment – ensuring racegoers and communities can enjoy these venues all year round.
Under the Regional Customer Facilities Program, funded through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund, regional race clubs can apply for grants to support projects that improve facilities and encourage greater community use.
The regional racing industry contributes $1.17 billion to the Victorian economy each year and supports more than 9,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the state.
