Northern Victoria is set to benefit from a major investment in local men’s sheds, helping men learn valuable skills, stay connected and give back to their communities – thanks to a new round of funding from the Allan Labor Government.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced two men’s sheds in the Indigo Shire will receive funding as part of the 2024-25 Men’s Shed Funding Program, ensuring they have welcoming and well-equipped spaces to work on projects, make friends and access support.
These sheds are:
- Badger Creek and District Men’s Shed will receive $10,000 for a replacement dust extractor to help improve air quality and noise reduction.
- Kinglake Ranges Men’s Shed will receive over $1000 for a un upgraded and safer table saw.
- Kilmore District Men’s Shed will receive over $3000 to purchase and install an air purifier.
- Tangambalanga Kiewa Men’s Shed will receive $80,000 for the construction of a new shed.
- Wahgunyah and District Men’s Shed will receive funding for an extension on the existing shed allowing for increased space and greater community connection.
- Mooroopna Men’s Shed will receive over $3,000 in funding for the purchase of a metal lathe.
- Ouyen Men's Shed will receive just over $26,000 for the replacement of a new roof and installation of an air conditioner.
Men’s sheds are more than just a place to tinker, they’re an important support network for men right across Victoria helping them to learn important skills from woodworking to home repairs, while providing a sense of purpose and community.
