LABOR INVESTS IN OUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE

01 May 2026

Nothing is more important than our children’s future.

That’s why the Allan Labor Government is ensuring every child can attend a great local public school.

The Victorian Budget 2026/27 invests in building, maintaining and upgrading schools.

Every cent is worth it to give our youngest Victorians the opportunities they deserve.

Upgrades for existing schools

In this Budget, 31 government schools will receive upgrades through a $294.8 million investment.

In Northern Victoria, this means:

  • $9.29 million for Yarrawonga P-12 College to build a new learning facility and progress consolidation of campuses
  • $440,000 for Mansfield Primary School to refurbish school toilets
  • $298,000 for Toolangi Primary School to refurbish school toilets
  • $499,000 for Cardross Primary School to refurbish school toilets

Keeping schools safe and accessible

The Budget also invests in essential maintenance and compliance programs – including rapid support for schools damaged by incidents or extreme weather.

This includes $28.8 million to improve access for students with disability and additional needs.

Labor’s record

We’ve delivered 121 new schools, free TAFE and free kinder because Labor always invests in our children’s future.

When Jess Wilson’s Liberals were last in power, they cut $1 billion from education.

Now they have an $11.5 billion black hole in their Budget, and that means one thing: more cuts.

Only Labor has new solutions to make life easier, safer and more affordable.
