Labor is backing fishing clubs across northern Victoria to improve their facilities and attract new members.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced 10 fishing clubs in northern Victoria will reel in funding through the Stronger Fishing Clubs grant program.
- Nangiloc Fishing Club has received $10,000 to upgrade and purchase IT equipment
- Charlton Angling Club has received just over $8,965 to purchase equipment such as a new fridge, uniforms, fishing tackle, first aid kits and more.
- Undera Angling Club has received $10,000 to upgrade IT equipment, purchase uniforms, first aid kits and courses.
- Greenwells Fly Fishing Club will receive $9,700 to install new split-systems, carry out IT upgrades and purchase fly-tying kits for beginners.
- Lavington Anglers Club will receive $10,000 to upgrade the roof, verandah and electrical systems at the Mitta Cabin.
- Lakeview Angling Club will receive $7,000 for a bathroom facilities upgrade.
- Upper Yarra Angling Club will receive $10,000 to install solar and split-systems.
- Yea Angling Club will receive $10,000 to purchase first aid equipment, uniforms and upgrade bathroom facilities.
- Benalla Angling Club will receive $10,000 to install a solar system
- Kyabram Anglers Club will receive $10,000 for their outdoor kitchen and catering area.
In the most recent round of the Stronger Fishing Clubs Grants, 68 fishing clubs and associations from across the state have shared in more than $600,000 in grants.
Up to $10,000 is available for clubs to undertake improvements or host community events.
