The Allan Labor Government is giving more Victorian children the best start in life – with five brand-new modular kindergartens set to open across the state next year, including one in Yea, to meet increasing demand in growing communities.
Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes announced that Yea Primary School Kindergarten (interim name) is one of the five new kindergartens thanks to a $13.8 million Labor Government investment – all set to open their doors in Term 1, 2025.
Modular kindergartens are constructed off-site in a factory, in sections known as modulars, to take advantage of quicker construction time and reduced disruptions, costs and risks.
To meet urgent demand in Yea, a one room kindergarten, playground and carpark facilities are set to open at Yea Primary School, to provide an extra 33 kindergarten spots for the local community.
This announcement forms part of the Victorian Budget 2019/20’s funding of $283 million in funding for Three-Year-Old Kindergarten capital funding.
The Labor Government is investing billions to build and expand hundreds of kindergartens across the state, supporting the delivery of 15 hours of Three-Year-Old Kindergarten each week by 2029 and 30 hours of Pre-Prep each week by 2036.
