The Allan Labor Government is backing Northern Victorian sport clubs with grants to help more people get involved in the sports they love.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced that grants will go to 151 clubs across Northern Victoria, who will share in more than $190,000 from the Sporting Club Grants Program.

These grants support clubs to purchase uniforms and equipment, upskill volunteers, coaches and officials, and improve their accessibility and engagement with local communities.

Some local recipients from across Northern Victoria include a $5,000 grant to the Cudgewa Football Netball Club for a committee education program, $1000 to the Powelltown Cricket Club to fund a first aid and portable de-fib unit for travelling teams, $1000 to the Benalla Bowls Club for uniforms, $3,945 to Sunraysia Volleyball Inc to help fund beginner women’s volleyball programs, $1000 to Echuca Masters Football Club for replacement jumpers and uniforms, $967 to Wangaratta Rifle Club for corflute aiming marks and $984 to Tatura Scouts to upgrade scout camping equipment.

The Sporting Club Grants Program has provided more than $18 million to thousands of community sport and recreation clubs across the state over the past decade.

The program is backed by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund which is delivering infrastructure upgrades and other programs including the Regional Community Sport Infrastructure Fund so more regional Victorians can get active and be part of their local sporting club.

From playground redevelopments to new sporting precincts, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation.
