Kids and kids at heart now have access to even more outdoor activities near Lake Eildon, with the completion of the Eildon Reserves redevelopment project - made possible by support from the Victorian Government.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes today celebrated the completion of upgrades at Eildon’s Walter Moore Reserve and Thomas Marr Reserve.

With regional centres like Eildon bustling with more tourists and families, the new facilities are a great way to attract tourists who are looking to get active, while also encouraging more locals to get outside and enjoy the benefits of the great outdoors.

At Thomas Marr Reserve, a new skate park has been added, as well as refuges and extra seating. Additionally, a new seniors playspace has been built with fitness and musical play equipment designed to improve the balance, dexterity and agility of older people.

At Walter Moore Reserve, a regional level playground including swing and flying fox are amongst the new facilities. Earlier this year, a new splash park opened - the Baahn ba Djila splash park, meaning ‘Water and Play’ in Taungurung language, which features a shallow pool area, and a play area accessible to children of all ages and all abilities.

Other new facilities include accessible toilet and change areas, boosted security with new CCTV and electric BBQs providing a great space for families to get together and enjoy the new play areas.

These facilities provide a new, year round experience to the Eildon region, which are entirely free to use, ensuring more people can get active amongst nature – no matter what their budget is.

Eildon Reserves Redevelopment was supported by the Victorian Government, with additional funding from both the Australian Government and the Murrindindi Shire Council. The project was identified in the Lake Eildon Masterplan, supported by the Victorian Government to unlock investment and tourism potential at Lake Eildon.

From playspace redevelopments to pavilion upgrades, investments like these provide free, high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of active recreation participation, while strengthening Victoria’s public tourism infrastructure.

They are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
