Construction is underway on the new Kilmore Victoria State Emergency Services (VICSES) Unit headquarters, which will help volunteers keep their community safe for years to come.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes today officially marked the start of construction works for the future VICSES Kilmore Unit.

Located at 114 Powlett Street, next to the unit’s current site at 24 Green Street, the new facility will provide a modern, fit-for-purpose headquarters for the VICSES volunteers so they can continue serving their community.

The facility will be a larger hub for unit members to respond to emergencies and support the local area and surrounding communities.

VICSES Kilmore Unit has been operating for more than 40 years and responds to about 450 requests for assistance a year, including storm damage, floods and road accidents.

The unit has 44 operational members and has been instrumental in responding to significant events such as the 2020 storms and 2022 Victorian floods.

The facility has been funded as part of the Allan Labor Government’s $26 million investment in state-of-the-art upgrades for emergency services.

Construction on the fit-for-purpose facility is expected to be completed in 2026.
