The Allan Labor Government is set to commence major works on one of northern Victoria’s key connections as part of its $964 million road maintenance blitz to rebuild, repair and resurface roads rights across Victoria.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced that from early November, crews will begin works to rebuild a flood-damaged section of Echuca-Mooroopna Road – delivering a safer, smoother and more reliable journey between Echuca and Shepparton.

As a key connection between two of northern Victoria’s regional towns, the 1.2-kilometre section of road between Baker Crescent and Paisley Crescent in Mooroopna caters to thousands of drivers each day, linking communities to education, employment, family, friends and vital services.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to continue until March 2025, with works to briefly pause over the busy Christmas and new year period to minimise disruptions.

At various stages of the works, local roads intersecting with Echuca-Mooroopna Road will be closed and detours will be in place.

The traffic lights at the intersection of Echuca-Mooroopna Road and Macisaac Road will also be deactivated at times with a signed detour in place via the local road network.

There will also be an alternative heavy vehicle detour via Ardmona Road, and drivers are asked to observe changed traffic conditions on-site, follow detour signs and allow extra travel time.

On-street parking on Echuca-Mooroopna Road and some sections of the adjacent service road will not be available during the works, and pedestrian crossings and footpaths will also be inaccessible at times.
