New oval lighting is set to put the spotlight on local sport at Tatura Park, thanks to the Victorian Government.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes today joined representatives of Greater Shepparton City Council and members from the Tatura Bulldogs Football Netball Club to officially flick the switch on the new lights on the Park’s Western Oval backed by more than $254,000 from the Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund (RCSIF).

The lights give local footy the chance to stage more night training and expand development programs, giving locals the opportunity to kit up and get involved in local sport, particularly women and girls.

The 100-lux lighting is also an energy saver with efficient LED fittings spreading even light, improving safety for players and encouraging greater participation on the oval for all.

Benefits also extend to the wider community, who will have more time to get together with friends and family to use the facilities for casual sport and play.

It’s part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to make regional towns like Tatura even better places to live, work, stay, and play.

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also providing more than $23 million continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure, and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.

Jaclyn Symes MP acknowledged the Greater Shepparton City Council for its more than $80,000 contribution and commitment to delivering the project, and the Tatura Football Netball Club for its contribution of $4,500.
